Saturn is the most mystic planet in our solar system. I say mystic because Saturn has unique look. It is the only planet which has rings around it. It has largest number of natural satellites revolving around it.

Astrologically, good influence of Saturn makes a person unique. It gives luster to an individual (gives charismatic personality like ringed Saturn) and mass following (similar to largest number of satellites which revolve around it).

For success, name and popularity of an individual, Saturn has an important role to play. Angelina Jolie: She was born when Gemini lagna was rising in the eastern horizon. Saturn happens to be placed in lagna in her horoscope. Venus is placed in the 2nd house; Moon is under the influence of benefic Jupiter. The role of Saturn in the horoscope is clear being a benefic lord (9th lord) placed in the lagna bestowing on her charismatic looks and fan following which she commands till now.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: She was born when Virgo was rising in the eastern horizon. In her case Saturn had most important role to play. Being the benefic 5th lord Saturn is placed in the 10th house (karma sthan). Saturn is aspecting the natal Moon (placed in Sagittarius rashi) bestowing charismatic looks and personality to the individual. The “karakamsha lagna” for her is Virgo and Saturn is placed in the 10th house from Virgo (i.e., in Gemini). This, as per “Jaimini” astrology is the yoga for “apaar prashidhi” (mass following). Hence, it is Saturn which made her a celebrity.

I have worked on the horoscopes of many celebrities including actors, politicians and the like. The common thing in all the horoscopes is well placed or yogakaraka Saturn which made persons popular and bestowed charismatic personality on them.

Now, coming to the discussion of Saturn’s transit in Leo, I have discussed in my earlier article that Saturn’s transit in Leo rashi was the major cause of economic slowdown. Bollywood might be among the worst sufferers of this economic slowdown. Profitability in film making will go down. Producers may incur losses. Stars may have to reduce their professional fees in order to be competitive. Bigger the name the biggest will be their losses. Hence, the year will see new stars challenging the older stars and giving them run for their money.

Since, Saturn sets a new trend, the type and quality of films may also change during the recession and after it. Films associated with high moral values will bounce back in production lines.

The lagna rising in the horoscope of India is Taurus. Both, Sun and Moon are placed in Cancer in third house. Currently, both natal Moon and Sun are afflicted by transiting Ketu and to make the matter worse India is passing through the period of Sadhe Saati.

Mahadasa of Sun will start from September 2009 onwards and will continue for coming six years. This will see India rise to the top and establish its place among the world’s superpowers. Problems with neighboring Pakistan will ease out after September 2009 onwards thanks to proactive and strong diplomatic initiative taken by the present government.

However, it is still important to know which party will form government in centre. In mundane astrology the fourth house is the house of kingly throne. The fourth lord is Sun that happens to be afflicted by Rahu / Ketu axis signifying chaos or confusions with respect to government formation. Hence, we are again heading towards a hung parliament with no party getting majority. 

Following the predictive principles in mundane astrology there is going to be change in power centers after the election. Hence, it may not be surprising if the ruling UPA government does not form government after the election.

What happens next? There will be rat race of candidates for the prime minister’s post. We may see rise of new front after the election and the likes of Mayawati, Mulayam Singh and others may be the contender of the top post. This is what Saturn’s transit in the fourth house from India’s horoscope suggests. Who shall become prime minister would depend on the individual strength of the horoscope of the leaders. However, India is heading towards one more coalition government with no party getting absolute majority.

The relevant quote is - “The riches unjustly accumulated shall be vomited up; an angel shall drag him out of his house;" Saturn is the dark angel who is the divine equalizer who brings justice and equality among beings. He removes people in power and brings order by bringing in new and justified order. Hence, the transit of Saturn in Leo sign sets new order. It brought an end of president rule in Pakistan, brought in many changes in the Government all over the world including the United States of America. First time in the history a Black American (Barack Obama) became the president of America. Saturn is the planet that brings change that benefits people who are oppressed over centuries. Hence, the transit will favor those who are polite, God fearing, mentally and emotionally upright, who are not an embodiment of hatred and exalted ego. For, others there can be more difficulties in times to come.

Saturn will transit out of Leo in September 2009 bringing in some respite to the economy. By this time the job of Saturn as a spiritual teacher will end. The hurricane will subside but, the effect of this transit may take some more time to heal.

To make the matters worse, Jupiter remains debilitated (weak) till November 2009. USA may be providing bail-out packages to American Companies. But, divine grace of bailout is still awaited. After November 2009, Jupiter will gain strength and will come out of the affliction state caused by transit of Rahu over it.

Hence, astrological and angelic interpretation shows that year 2009 is tough for the world economy. Though some respite may be felt from September 2009 onwards. But, major respite shall come only after middle of 2010.
